What fits in the Yumbox Panino?

The Yumbox  Panino 4 Compartment Food Tray is sandwich friendly. This is a great option for kids and adults of all ages who prefer lunches of sandwiches and salads. It has one large sandwich sized section with two smaller ½ cup compartments plus a 30ml dip compartment.

Do sandwiches fit in it? Yes, easy. Perfect for sandwiches, wraps and salads. 

Use

Yumbox is designed for packaging wet food, but not for liquids, such as water. To ensure that the food stays in place and does not leak into other compartments, you need to follow 4 simple steps as described below: 

1. Do not overfill compartments (3/4 full)

2. Remove excess liquid from canned fruit, applesauce, and yogurt

3. Place a paper towel under watery fruit such as watermelon and citrus fruits to absorb excess liquid

3. Keep the contents cool by adding an ice pack to your lunch bag

4. When you close Yumbox, press the lid with the palm of your hand and snap the latch into the closed position to create the best seal 

The yumbox is not suitable for thin liquids such as yoghurt drinks, thin yoghurt types, soups or liquid / watery dressings. Pack foods with a thick consistency such as ranch dressing, ketchup, chunky salsas, hummus, thick Greek yogurt, and veggie dips. These are all great options. Some oily vinaigrettes may leak from the dipping cavity. One trick that can help keep vinaigrettes in place is to dress the salad and top it with a few croutons. The croutons will absorb excess oil/liquid and prevent the vinaigrette from seeping into an adjacent compartment.

If you're not sure if your food choice is too liquid to pack, we recommend doing a quick test before sending your child to school with that food. Simply add the test food to a compartment, close the Yumbox tightly and give it a good shake a few times (or leave it on its side for 10 minutes). Return the Yumbox to its normal position and open it to check the results.  

The exterior of the Yumbox is not microwave safe. We do not recommend putting the tray in the microwave. 

Cleaning

We strongly recommend washing the outer box by hand or if absolutely necessary use a dishwasher but take it out before heat drying cycle. Most dishwasher temperatures are a guideline only and actual temperatures can fluctuate by as much as 20°C. The yumbox can deform in the dishwasher due to incorrect use and damage can occur.

Yumbox's plastic bento boxes  are dishwasher safe. Top rack only. Remove it before the heat-dry cycle. Yumbox has been tested at a temperature of 65C/149F, 110 min. cycle.

Yumbox is made with ABS (outer box), Tritan (tray) and silicone (seal). Yumbox Presto stainless steel  bento box and  Zuppa stainless steel  thermal pots are  hand wash only.

Special care instructions for the silicone seal : Make sure to empty the contents every day, hand wash with warm soapy water and dry your Yumbox thoroughly and let it dry overnight in an open, upright position (like a tent) before storing . If you live in a humid environment, also leave the Yumbox ajar, not closed during storage. If you regularly pack oily foods, cover them with a baking soda paste overnight once a week to prevent buildup.

We recommend that you always store your lunchbox with the lid open when not in use, so that the seal can dry completely. If you store your lunch box with the lid closed, mold can develop. 

Damage caused by overheating in a dishwasher is not covered under warranty (you must use the top rack only), as is misuse or abuse.
