Note: Joik candles are subtle in scent. Natural scented candles smell much weaker than candles with paraffin and chemical fragrances.

Rapeseed wax advantages

• We use European rapeseed wax which ensures a smaller carbon footprint thanks to a shorter transport route.
• Rapeseed does not cause monoculture and is not harmful to the environment. In fact, it is used for crop rotation and is normally sown before cereals.
• Our rapeseed wax is GMO-free. Cultivation of genetically modified organisms is banned in Europe.
• Rapeseed wax is biodegradable and burns longer and cleaner than paraffin.
• Rapeseed wax is vegan

Use

Diffuser: Unscrew the silver decorative cap from the bottle, then remove the inner protective cap. Turn the silver ring back on the bottle and insert the straws. The liquid will be absorbed into the straws and the fragrance will begin to diffuse within 24 hours.

The intensity of the aroma can be adjusted by the number of straws used. In smaller areas, start with 2-3 straws.

Place the diffuser in an area with good airflow to spread the fragrance more effectively. Rotate the sticks once or twice a week for a more consistent and stronger aroma.

The fragrance of the diffuser lasts an average of 3-4 months.

Note: The liquid can damage surfaces! Place the bottle on a stable surface and avoid contact between the straws and other surfaces or objects.

Scented candle: Follow these simple but extremely important rules for burning candles to ensure a pleasant and safe experience:

* Burn the candle continuously until the entire surface is melted. This ensures that the candle burns evenly.

* ALWAYS cut the wick to 0.5 cm before lighting the candle. This ensures clean and soot-free burning. A long wick or a wick with combustion residue (so-called mushroom) causes an oversized flame, which becomes unstable and can give off smoke and soot. Burning a candle with a wick that is too long and/or a large flame is dangerous! If the flame is too large, extinguish the candle, cut the wick shorter and you can relight the candle if you wish.

* Blowing out a candle causes smoke. Instead of blowing, for example, press the wick into the melted wax with the tip of a knife and lift it up again. Make sure the wick stays in the centre of the candle and that there are no bits of burnt wick in the wax.

* Do not let the candle burn for more than 3 hours at a time.

* Always burn the candle on a heat-resistant surface and keep it away from objects that can catch fire. Stop burning the candle when less than 1 cm of wax remains at the bottom of the glass.

* Be careful when moving the burning candle - the glass may be hot.

* Keep the burning candle out of reach of children and animals.

* Avoid drafts near the candle.

* Never leave a burning candle unattended!

* If the glass of the candle has become sooty due to too long a wick, you can easily clean the glass with household paper.

Candle tips:

Joik has extensively tested all its products to ensure the highest quality. Through experience, we have learnt the best way to burn candles. Below are some tips to keep your candles burning as long and clean as possible.

Always cut the wick to 5 mm before lighting your JOIK candle. A wick that is too long will cause the wick to smoke. If you don't cut the wick, the flame can get too big and the wick will start producing smoke - burning a candle under these conditions can be dangerous and it also damages the quality of the candle-burning experience. If you see the flame getting too big or smoking, extinguish the candle, trim the wick and re-light the candle.

• Trim the wick to about 5 millimetres before use.
• The first time the candle will burn: Burn the candle long enough until the top is completely melted for optimal burn time. This will ensure even burning of your candle. It is recommended to follow this rule every time you burn the candle as this will ensure that you get the most out of your candle.
• Do not burn the candle for more than 3-4 hours continuously.
• Stop burning when you have 1 cm or less of wax in your JOIK candle.
• Always burn a candle on a heat-resistant surface away from objects that can catch fire.
• Use candles in a well-ventilated area, but not in an airstream or in a draught.
• Keep the wax of the candle clean of bits of wick, match and dirt at all times.
• Extinguish any candle that smokes or flickers repeatedly or if the flame gets too high. Let the candle cool down, trim the wick, check that there is no draft in the room and light the candle again.
• If the wax on one side does not melt properly try bending or moving the wick slightly in that direction.
• Do not let the flame come too close to the candle's holder.
• Never move a burning candle or a candle whose wax is still liquid.
• Never leave a candle burning unattended.
• Keep a burning candle out of the reach of children and pets.
• If your glass has soot on the edge (because you didn't trim your wick...), use some kitchen paper to gently wipe it off and clean the glass.
