A powerful AHA serum with peptides and apple stem cells!
Mother nature and modern science unite in an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) serum with peptides and apple stem cells to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and skin discolouration.
* We recommend using the exfoliating serum or the vitamin A serum as an exfoliant.
Frequently asked questions
Should I wash this off? We recommend applying the Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum on clean skin and leaving it on overnight.
Can I combine this with the vitamin A serum? Mixing retinoids with alpha hydroxy acids can be very irritating for many people, as both ingredients essentially exfoliate the skin. We normally recommend alternating vitamin A (such as retinoids) and alpha hydroxy acids at night rather than layering the products.
Can I combine this with the vitamin C serum? The Exfoliating Serum is an overnight serum and should not be used in combination with the Vitamin C Serum due to its low pH. We recommend using the Vitamin C Serum in the morning and the Exfoliating Serum at night.
What is the percentage of alpha hydroxy acids in the exfoliating serum? Our exfoliating serum contains 10% alpha hydroxy acids (9% glycolic acid and 1% lactic acid) and a pH of around 4.0 for gentle exfoliation.
How much should I use? We recommend using a small amount of exfoliating serum, which is usually enough to cover face and neck.
Can I wear this during the day? Every time you exfoliate (whether it is with an exfoliator, alpha hydroxy acids, a cleansing brush, etc.), you should be extra diligent about protecting your skin from the sun, as you reveal new skin cells that are more susceptible to damage. We recommend using our Exfoliating Serum at night and using sunscreen and a hat during the day to protect the skin.
Can I use a moisturiser with this? This serum can be used alone or followed by a moisturiser. If you decide to follow it with a moisturiser or oil, we recommend waiting 5-10 minutes before applying your moisturiser as this is a low pH serum and the low pH helps with exfoliation.
Active ingredients:
Glycolic acid - Derived from sugarcane and considered the most effective of the alpha-hydroxy acid family because of its smaller molecular size, glycolic acid is great at exfoliating, reducing wrinkles, discolouration and age spots.
Lactic acid - Derived from fermented beet sugar and another member of the alpha-hydroxy acid family, lactic acid exfoliates, preventing wrinkles and discolouration, while hydrating and moisturising.
Apple stem cells (PhytoCellTec®) - works to reduce fine lines.
Gigawhite - A radiance-enhancing blend of 6 organically grown alpine plants that reduce skin discolouration.
Matrixyl Synthe '6 - Advanced peptide with skin rejuvenating benefits.
Sodium hyaluronate - The salt of hyaluronic acid (HA), sodium hyaluronate, has been shown to have better skin penetrating properties than HA alone. Works to hydrate the skin and reduce wrinkles.
White tea - Finely harvested new growth tea leaves rich in antioxidants.
Goji Berry - Super-antioxidant berries rich in amino acids, minerals, beta-carotene and vitamins C, E, B1, B2 & B6.
Ceramide - Provides a thin, lipid layer over the skin that helps retain moisture.
